Akuru Tools Sinhala

Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 2026

1. Core Privacy Principle: Zero Data Uploads

At Akuru Tools (akurutools.com), our primary design tenet is complete data autonomy. When you use our conversion tools:

  • Pasted text is never uploaded: All transformation algorithms execute strictly within your local web browser session using client-side JavaScript.
  • No server endpoints or databases: We operate no backend servers that collect, inspect, process, log, or persist user-submitted strings.
  • No account requirement: You do not need to register, provide an email address, or create credentials to use our utilities.

2. Local Storage Usage

Akuru Tools uses standard browser localStorage solely for storing your user preferences locally on your computer:

  • akuru_theme: Remembers your display theme selection (Light, Dark, or System default).
  • akuru_ad_consent: Remembers your decision regarding advertising cookies (Accepted or Declined).

These entries are never transmitted to our servers or third parties.

3. Advertising Partners & Cookie Consent

To keep this service free and sustainable, Akuru Tools may display non-intrusive advertisements from certified third-party ad networks (such as Google AdSense).

Consent Requirement: Advertising scripts and partner cookies are loaded only after you explicitly grant consent by clicking "Accept" on our cookie banner. If you choose "Decline", no advertising cookies or tracker scripts are loaded. Under no circumstances is your converted text accessible to or shared with advertising networks.

4. Third-Party Fonts & Assets

Akuru Tools uses web fonts hosted locally or via system default font stacks. Proprietary legacy fonts (such as FM Abhaya) are not distributed, hosted, or loaded via third-party CDNs.

5. Updates to this Policy

Should we introduce new tools or alter technical architectures, this policy will be updated immediately. The fundamental guarantee that user text processing remains 100% client-side will remain permanent.

6. Contact Regarding Privacy

If you have questions regarding our privacy practices, please contact us at privacy@akurutools.com.

System Information & Engine Details

1. What the Tool Does & Privacy Guarantee

Akuru Tools provides instant bidirectional conversion between standard Sinhala Unicode and FM Abhaya legacy font encoding.

Privacy Assurance: 100% of conversion logic executes directly inside your browser using vanilla JavaScript. Your text is never uploaded to any server, database, or third-party API. No tracking, accounts, or analytics scripts are used.

2. Conversion Engine Architecture

Text transformation is executed line-by-line to guarantee responsive UI behavior even on large text passages (hundreds of kilobytes):

  • FM Abhaya Legacy ↔ Unicode: Legacy-to-Unicode applies contextual rule transformations in a single regex pass, followed by greedy longest-match glyph substitution. Unicode-to-FM applies prefix vowel sign transposition (typing ෙ, ේ, ෛ, ො, ෝ, ෞ before consonants), handles rakaransha/yansaya suffix positioning, and provides yansaya conjunct fallback.

3. Testing & Documented Limits

  • Automated Verification: Validated against automated test suites, including comprehensive real-world passages and isolated word test vectors. The engine executes automated self-tests upon startup.
  • Multiple Valid Encodings: Certain Sinhala characters have multiple equivalent legacy keystrokes depending on specific typesetter layouts; output may differ from alternative tools while remaining typographically accurate.
  • Repaya Notice: Repaya (ර් + consonant) forms are not independently standardized across all legacy tables.
  • Beta Designation: Unicode → Legacy font conversion is strictly designated as Beta. Always proofread converted desktop publishing materials before final printing.

4. Engine & Font Information

  • FM Abhaya Font: Originally designed by Font Master (Fernando & Mudannayake / Pushpananda Ekanayaka). The FM Abhaya font file is proprietary and is neither hosted, distributed, nor bundled by Akuru Tools. If installed on your system, the browser natively applies it.
  • Akuru Tools Conversion Engine: Bespoke, custom bidirectional mapping engine created and maintained by Akuru Tools, audited and verified across 760+ Sinhala phoneme/vowel combinations and natural Sinhala text passages.
